Poor….but enriched

Despite widespread economic challenges, Nepal reports higher levels of subjective well-being than its economic status would suggest, a phenomenon sometimes seen in cultures with strong communal bonds. The Nepalese feature high on the world rankings for global happiness, community and contentment and there is cultural emphasis on not exclusively tying material wealth with happiness and fulfillment. Though pursuit of a better life remains a primary motivator for economic migration and an improved socio-economic position the Nepalese remain happy and content.
